With all the choices of web hosting companies that have sprung up in recent years, it is important to NOT evaluate a hosting company based solely on the price.  This is especially critical if your website is a critical component of your business.  There are some companies that offer really low prices for web hosting, but many of those companies are planning on making money on other services or on obtaining a large volume of customers. Either way, you will be risking the future of your website and internet services.

There is probably no decision as important to the security of the data in your website than your choice of web hosting providers.   However, due to the increasing availability of low cost hosting and registrars offering free or low cost services with a domain name, most business owners will be using a shared web server located someplace in another country.   If you are on a tight budget and do not store any confidential data, then you can probably get away with this option.  However, be aware that there are dangers that you need to understand.  It is a real  eye-opener to see the dangers lurking on a web server and the lack of expertise and resources that are committed to proper configuration of web servers, especially when you host your site on a web server for $25/month or less.  Putting it in other terms, you basically get what you pay for and there is no "free" lunch.
